9 Places to Buy Unique Home Gifts in Seattle This Holiday Season

With the holiday season upon us, it’s time to start making your shopping list so you can avoid the last-minute rush. If you know a family member or friend who has recently purchased a new home or completed a remodel, you may consider gifting them something for their new space. Buying for someone else’s home can be a tricky affair, since our homes are such personal spaces, but that doesn’t mean you can’t choose something that fits their style (and thoughtfully includes a gift receipt). Watch as the recipient opens what’s sure to be a unique gift this holiday season—much more exciting than a gift card! To help in your search, our office staff has rounded up a list of our favorite home shops in Seattle:

1. Camelion Design

5330 Ballard Ave NW (Ballard)

One of my personal favorites, this Ballard store has nice, quality items that make it a gift-giving paradise. Bath and body supplies, jewelry, books, baby items and more can be found here. We love that they offer a selection of sustainable and local products, too!

2. Retrofit Home
1103 East Pike Street (Capitol Hill)

Another local favorite is the split-level Capitol Hill shop Retrofit Home. The self-proclaimed “mini department store” has a wide array of goods in various styles and a knowledgeable staff to give you personal attention when picking something out. Since 1992 they’ve been outfitting Seattle homes with their curated collection, and they have a wonderful assortment of knick-knacks that’s perfect for a white elephant or stocking stuffer.

3. Renegade Craft Fair, Dec 17 & 18

Magnuson Park, Hangar 30, 6310 NE 74th St (Sand Point)

This nationally-known fair series is a one-stop-shop for all of your gifting needs. Not only will you be supporting 200+ local makers and artisans, but you’ll find a range of goods. Stock up of gifts, holiday cards, decorations (and maybe even a little something for yourself).

4. Dania Furniture Co.
825 Western Ave, Seattle, WA 98104 or 6416 Roosevelt Way NE (Downtown, Green Lake)

With two locations, there’s a Dania near you. The Scandinavian-inspired designs and goods are prefect for the modern homemaker. Utility and quality are of the upmost importance to Dania, so it’s really hard to go wrong in this expertly curated store.

5. Digs
2002 NW Market Street (Ballard)

Another Ballard gem that tops our list is Digs, which started up north in Bellingham. They have a distinctly modern aesthetic that is carefully curated with quirky designer products. They currently have a ton of holiday-only stocking stuffers on display and a wide assortment of children’s gifts. Bonus: the customer service is always top-notch.

6. West Elm Seattle
2201 Westlake (South Lake Union)

This “big box” shop retains its charm by featuring local makers and goods on a rotating basis. Chase the trends by purchasing a velvet pillow or rose gold jewelry box, or opt for local soap or Seattle-made artwork. For the ultimate pairing, get one of each.

7. Butter Home

1531 Melrose Ave, Seattle (Capitol Hill)

There’s a reason this small shop gets such rave Yelp reviews—it’s a mine of beautiful gems. Small-batch, local, handmade and artisan can all describe the craftsmanship on display inside. Just like its neighbors! This 2nd floor shop is located inside Melrose Market, where you can also get local coffee beans or artisan cheese to compliment your purchase.

8. Earthwise Architectural Salvage
3447 4th Ave S. (SODO)

In this case, it’s not strange to gift something used. Visit this warehouse of wonders in SODO for vintage finds and shabby chic goods. Perfect for your friend whose décor includes chalkboard paint, reclaimed wood and other rustic décor. Vintage door knobs, antique mailboxes and other distinctive gifts are here and plentiful. If you’ve still got a few people on your list when you leave, you can always head down the street to Second Use for another go at salvage shopping.

9. Restoration Hardware

4645 26th Ave NE (University Village)

If the hunt isn’t your favorite part of shopping, but your recipient will appreciate high-quality, then head to Restoration Hardware in University Village for an immersive shopping experience that will never leave you empty-handed or your wallet fully loaded. From big ticket items like a Moroccan throw to stocking stuffers like a mixology toolkit, the range is wide and members always receive 25% off.
