Remodeling Precautions During COVID-19
In this time of uncertainty, we want to do everything we can to take some of the uncertainty out of having remodeling professionals work inside your home. Below is a brief update from the Model Remodel team on how we’re approaching our work moving forward. This information is for all of our current clients, as well as anyone considering a remodeling later this year. We are hopeful that things will improve soon, and we are going to do our part to sustain the improvement the “Stay Home, Stay Healthy” has already made for Washington state.
We are closely monitoring government and industry guidelines in order to implement new jobsite policies. As of May 1st we are resuming construction, as allowed under the governor’s Phase 1 Construction Restart. With the permission of our clients, we will return to work in a lighter capacity than usual. Protective measures and special policies are being put in place to ensure that our jobsites adhere to the Construction Working Group Recommendations from the governor’s office. Before we step foot on your property we will have had numerous virtual trainings, created a jobsite toolkit (including required PPE, sanitizer, etc) and will have signage ready to be posted to remind all jobsite workers of the new practices.
The Phase 1 Construction Restart plan is based on currently available information from the U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention (“CDC”) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (“OSHA”), and is subject to change based on further information provided by the CDC, OSHA, and other public officials. Here are a few examples of plan requirements (as of May 1, 2020) include:
- COVID-19 safety requirements visibly posted on each jobsite
- Screening of all workers at the beginning of their shift
- Social distancing of at least 6 feet of separation
- Soap and running water provided for frequent hand washing
- Frequent sanitizing of touch surfaces
- A daily attendance log of all workers and visitors (which is already a best practice of ours!)
- And many, many more
We have reviewed all of the requirements to-date and have been hard at work to put the precautions in place. We are also keeping up-to-date with new information and/or policies on a daily basis to ensure the safety of our homeowners, employees, subcontractors, inspectors and other necessary visitors.
We care about our community and we thank you for your participation in the “Stay Home, Stay Healthy” fight against COVID-19 while we operate to get our client’s homes back in working condition.
We wish you good health, the love of family and friends, and a comfortable place to call home right now.
