It was a 6.5 month project. MRM was on budget and on time. They created a beautiful, functional new living space that blends seamlessly inside and out with the original home. There were very few hiccups during the remodel and when issues arose they were very responsive to our concerns and found solutions that worked for us. Communication throughout the project was frequent and frictionless. Everyone who has seen the new space has raved about it. I had some bad experiences with past remodel projects so I was worried about the process for such a big project but Model Remodel made it easy and honestly really enjoyable. I really liked the Model Remodel team that was on site everyday (Rohn and Steve are the BEST and I still miss seeing them). The team in the office was so kind, patient and smart. The most important part was that they were all empathetic and funny humans. It wasn't just a transactional project, I felt like they really cared about my project like it was their own. Plus the quality of the work still blows me away every time I use my new kitchen. read less

They were on budget and completed our remodel on time. Communication was clear. We lived in our house for much of the remodel and we felt safe throughout the construction. Everyone from the project manager to the site supervisor to the contractors checked in our comfort and safety on a daily basis. All of the third-party contracts hired to complete work were extremely skilled. We have gotten many compliments on the carpentry work. It was relief working with a company so comfortable and fluent with the city of Seattle's permitting process. I enthusiastically recommend Model Remodel. read less

We picked Model Remodel because the moment we met Jason Legat (owner) and Cat Schmidt (designer) we could feel their warmth, care, and excitement to help us create our dream house. Our timing was horrible in choosing to remodel- as immediately after we agreed to move forward after getting our estimate we heard news that there was rising lumber/ sky rocketing sub contractor costs and horrible permit delays with the city. It seemed that we hit hurdle after hurdle that made the project near impossible. Each and every road block we hit- Jason Legat and his entire team (special shout out to Issac Woods estimator for tireless penny pinching and scrambling to keep to a budget we could do) BENT OVER BACKWARDS to make our project happen.  Cat Schmidt held our hands through every aspect of picking out details, Kent Perry our project supervisor was a dream to work with, Ricky Bribiesca kept the budget on track, Leo/Shiloh/Art and all the other onsite workers did excellent work, and Kim/Kris helped keeping up with our difficult loan. To everyone at Model Remodel thank you for a challenging but amazing process. The end result was worth every moment! We love our new house. read less

When we couldn't find a bathroom mirror frame  we were looking for, our foreman Charles found the walnut burl we wanted at a mirror shop and built it for us. In 2011 he solved a wet basement problem. After pulling down a back wall in the basement, they determined there was water seeping through the concrete foundation. The solution was a French drain that ended the water build up. When they went to replace the basement wall, which was a yellow cedar, they could not find new boards that matched the size of the older boards on the rest of the walls. So they ripped the new boards to match the old boards.In 2012 we asked Model Remodel to do a new kitchen. Once again,  we took the ceiling, floor and all walls down to the studs. We added new custom cabinets, new sink and stove and dishwasher. They did  an amazing job installing marble counter tops and creating a new pantry which added efficiency and an enhanced look for storage.In 2013  Jason's team created a TV room in our basement.  They moved a door, rebuilt an espresso bar, pulled Ethernet and coax cable to the TV site, and modified cabinets on another wall to create space for a piano.  As part of this project, they enclosed our washer and dryer behind doors to "finish" a bath downstairs.  In 2014 Model Remodel did a complete re-landscaping of our front, side, and back yards, to include a new back porch (that incorporated intricate wrought iron custom-made porch sides), construction of a flagstone and granite barbecue island, restoration of a decayed soil retention system, installation of flagstone paving throughout, plumbing and wiring for a backyard fountain (which involved sub-contracting and supervising a huge crane and its operator), and wrought iron hand rails on the front and back stairs.In 2016 they fixed a leaking pipe in the basement, in 2017 they installed radiant heating panels in the basement, and last year they painted the back porch, garage and trim on the house.As you might expect, If we didn't have the highest regard for Jason and his team we would not be requesting their help year after year.They show up on time and do excellent work. They run their company as a business and operate very professionally. We met with our foreman, and sometimes Jason, each week to review what they had done and what was planned to do the next week. After the meeting we would give them a check for the prior week's work, and they furnished the detailed billing in advance for our review prior to the meeting.They completely protect the premises from the construction dust by using floor-to-ceiling plastic constraints in the areas not affected by the work.Their communication is good, and agreeing ahead of time on what will happen when is part of their normal operating procedure.They provide a detailed estimate of expenses and if you choose to add tasks or upgrades, they provide a change order so you know the approximate cost.Their entire work force is customer centric and they always try for the best solution. read less

The project turned a dreary space into a gorgeous master suite with a brand new bathroom.  Their in house designer did an excellent job creating a space that included the top items on our wish list as well as some touches we didn't even contemplate.  She understood that we did not wish to enlarge the space, but rather wanted to work within the space we had.The remodel went extremely smoothly.  MRM is highly professional and although their bid was not the least expensive bid we received, our experience was one that epitomizes the phrase "you get what you pay for."  We had never been through a remodel and had heard many, many horror stories, but our experience was only positive.  We thoroughly enjoyed the process!Weekly meetings were held with the project team so that everyone was aware of the status of the project.  Our project manager and site supervisor were communicative and answered all of our questions promptly.  We always felt like we knew what was coming around the bend.  The quality of work is high and the suggestions we got along the way from our designer and site supervisor were very helpful in making final decisions on finishes.  Our house was kept clean throughout the process, which we greatly appreciated too.The billing process was simple and easy to understand.  All in all we would hire them again and have been sharing our wonderful experience with our friends, family and acquaintances! read less

The house had undergone some recent updating, but we wanted to knock down a few walls and get rid of some carpeting. After a while it became clear that we were doing an almost full remodel of the main areas of the home! The Model Remodel team was so great to work with though. Jason L walked us through a lot at the beginning of the project, then handed us over to Jasun S (who was our project manager) and George (who was the one that did the most work on the house). I can't say enough good things about them. They worked on the house before we moved in, so they got to know our neighbors before we did, and they represented us really well. We've heard about how friendly they were, how professional, and how respectful they were of the neighbors and neighborhood. The work they did was really top-notch. I've learned to have a very keen eye for small details now (thanks to Jasun), because MRM notices every small little thing and they don't settle for less than perfect. As mentioned earlier, the house had undergone some updating before it went up for sale, and thank goodness we had MRM come in afterwards; they cleaned up so many things that the previous contractor did wrong or poorly...it seemed like every time they opened up a new wall we found something else that was wrong (to quote the electrician, "this is one of the best hack jobs I've ever seen, but it's still a hack job.") We went into the project with a vague idea of what we wanted (remove walls and carpeting), and as the project grew, Jasun S did an excellent job of walking us through options, offering advice and guidance when it was needed, and educating us throughout the process. Both George and Jasun S were more than willing to go above and beyond what I would consider 'normal' customer service to get the job done, and to make sure we were completely happy with how the project turned out. They even salvaged siding from another job that was due to be thrown out in order to give us the warm and wood-sy man-cave we both wanted! One of the best parts was a custom-designed and built wine storage drawer under the stairs; it holds over 50 bottles of wine, and easily slides under the stairs to maximize the space and allow for more storage. It's definitely one of the best talking points of our whole house.It's been 4 months since they completed, and there's not a day that goes by that we don't stop, look around, and exclaim "I love our house." We really do, and I know that it is because of the care, craftsmanship and quality that Model Remodel put into it for us. I would 100% recommend them to anyone looking to do a remodel (or new build), regardless of how big or small. read less

We loved all the guys who worked on our project and by the end I felt like we were friends.From start to finish, they were expert craftsman and very professional.They kept the job site really clean and were always respectful of our neighbors, & our yard throughout the project. I was impressed by the level of detail that they provide in their work. Our carpenter George even went out of his way to find a small piece of decorative molding to match the one piece of original molding we had left in the kitchen. It looks like it's always been there and it really makes a difference. I had a lot of design ideas but needed advise on certain things that they were happy to provide. Our kitchen came out even better than I imagined and I love it every day! Thank you MRM! I will hire you for my next project! read less

The home was being turned into a retail and office project while still maintaining the character of the original home.  Their on-site team was outstanding and managed the very aggressive schedule with grace and passion.  The project came out beautiful and they were always great to work with. The quality of the work is top-notch, and great attention to detail. The entire crew was a pleasure to work with. I miss our weekly meetings!  Our neighbors also had nothing but great things to say about how clean they kept the site, and their professional manner throughout the whole project.Working with our architect from CAST Architecture, we reviewed bids from four contractors.  Model Remodel impressed us with their commitment to green building (we got a 4 star rating!), high quality work and sense of integrity/personal pride in their work.  They were not the lowest bid (nor the highest), and would make that extra investment in Model Remodel again.Like any big project, there's always some surprises along the way.  Jason was nothing but professional and helped us to find solutions together to move the project along. And now we've got an amazing house and I'm proud to show to friends and family.  Its been over two years now, and the only issue came up right after we moved in. Jason had his team out immediately to put things right.Thanks, Jason!!!  We'd do it all over again! read less

We were so pleased after the first one we didn't even put the other two out for a bid.  Their team is extremely professional and very experienced, and the workmanship is top notch.  Equally important, they are honest, hardworking, friendly people whom we were happy to have in our home (and they were fantastic with our two young kids and our dog).  HIGHLY recommend! read less

They created a detailed estimate based upon our design and helped us keep costs down by recommending alternatives for various more expensive options we had identified ourselves.   They did a fantastic job and were on time and budget (after incorpating additional projects we gave them during their time with us).  They  were also extremely neat, patient, great communicators and very easy to work with.   Jason is fantastic and his team follows his example well.It has been over a year since we worked with them and we have not once had an issue.   Their work has lived up to their promise.
