Model Remodel worked within the existing dimensions of this classic Seattle kitchen. We preserved the contour of the original plaster arches to highlight the sense of space and feel in the eating nook. The kitchen updates allowed the entire main floor of the house to work as one refreshed, yet classic, living space.
We achieved a Built Green 3-Star rating on this project by reusing select finishes, such as the existing maple butcher block, recycling materials, adding insulation and refinishing the 90-year-old hardwood floors with a water-based finish. The new windows are energy efficient and the cabinets were built from FSC lumber.
