Scope: Bathroom

Sustainability: Low flow plumbing fixtures, low VOC paint, 50% recycling rate, and dimmer light switches, LED lighting

This custom bathroom remodel in Queen Anne, Seattle updates a dated bathroom in an older home with a modern, highly functional design tailored to the homeowners’ lifestyle. Through Model Remodel’s design‑build approach, the space was fully reimagined to feel brighter, more open, and distinctly personal, while preserving the character that makes Queen Anne homes unique.

Remodeling older Seattle homes requires a thoughtful balance between modernization and preservation. For this project, the goal was not to erase the home’s history, but to improve how the space functions today. The original window and door were intentionally kept, maintaining natural light and architectural continuity with the rest of the home. These details anchor the remodel and ensure the bathroom feels cohesive rather than over‑designed.

Every Detail Carefully Reimagined

One of the most impactful changes was removing the existing bathtub to create a more spacious walk‑in shower. This layout shift immediately improved circulation and usability, aligning the bathroom with the homeowners’ daily routines. The walk‑in shower became the grounding point of the space, both visually and functionally.

Floor‑to‑ceiling turquoise tile wraps the shower, adding depth, color, and vertical emphasis that makes the room feel larger. The blue‑green tile sets the foundation for the overall design and reflects a custom palette chosen to match the homeowners’ style. A built‑in shower nook provides good storage, while a quartz shower seat adds comfort and convenience. Clear glass wall panels enclose the shower, allowing light to travel freely and enhancing the open feel of the room.

Gold and brass hardware throughout the bathroom add warmth and contrast to the cool tile tones. These finishes elevate everyday fixtures and reinforce the custom nature of the remodel. The balance of blue‑green hues and warm metallics creates a space that feels modern, refined, and timeless.

BEFORE & AFTER

Small Changes Make a Big Difference

At the vanity, a large oval mirror serves as a soft focal point, breaking up the linear elements of tile and cabinetry. Ribbed opal glass sconces flank the mirror, providing warm, diffused light that is both functional and inviting. Together, these elements create a polished vanity area that supports daily use while contributing to the overall design.

Every detail in this Queen Anne bathroom remodel was selected with intention; from the layout changes to the material palette. The result is a bathroom that functions efficiently, feels spacious, and reflects the homeowners’ personality. Durable materials and smart design choices ensure the space will continue to perform and look great for years to come.
