This second-story remodel was all about turning an underwhelming bedroom and disjointed bathroom into a primary suite that finally lived up to its potential. With a large footprint and great natural light, the space had everything going for it, except a cohesive layout and thoughtful design. Our clients wanted something elegant, functional, and unique, so we reimagined the entire upper floor with comfort, beauty, and longevity in mind.
An Expansive Bedroom
The most significant change was creating a true primary suite by finally connecting the previously detached bathroom to the bedroom. This change alone transformed the flow and purpose of the space, giving the homeowners privacy and convenience without sacrificing flexibility, thanks to a secondary entrance that allows the bathroom to open to the hallway as well.
We expanded the already generous bedroom slightly to add more closet and floor space, giving the room a better sense of proportion and flow. Now, the suite feels open, serene, and purposeful.
BEFORE & AFTER
Elegant Luxury Bathroom
The bathroom itself is a showstopper. With eucalyptus-toned tile, quartz countertops, and matte brass fixtures, the material palette walks the line between natural calm and luxurious shine. A standout feature is the fully tiled shower cove, nestled beneath an angled ceiling and complete with a built-in bench and a window that fills the space with daylight. Every inch of the shower was thoughtfully designed, tiled with precision, and styled for both comfort and impact.
A graceful custom archway leads from the bathroom into the shower, setting the tone for the elegance that follows. These arches and the exquisite tilework that frames them are echoed throughout the bathroom, creating a unified and timeless aesthetic. Opposite the shower, we incorporated a makeup station with a lower counter height and integrated seat nook, adding a functional and personal touch to the room.
Beyond the suite itself, the remodel extended to the hallway and stair landing, an area often overlooked in traditional renovations. Here, we introduced a built-in seating nook with smart storage, transforming an ordinary passageway into a cozy and practical feature. The new staircase balusters, with their modern “split-oval” shape, make a bold architectural statement, striking the perfect balance between traditional and contemporary.
A Magnificent Overhaul
Throughout the second floor, the design palette brings everything together. Hues of blue and green play off one another to create a calming, cohesive vibe that flows naturally from one room to the next. Each finish, texture, and detail was chosen to contribute to a space that feels both refined and comfortable.
This remodel was about more than just upgrading finishes, it was about giving this home the kind of thoughtful layout and high-quality detailing that makes everyday living feel just a little more special. From the graceful arches and stunning tilework to the reimagined layout and expanded bedroom, this project reflects a deep collaboration between our team and the homeowners, and the result is a space that’s not just better, but beloved.
