At Model Remodel, we’re proud to offer the finest remodeling services in the Seattle area. After many years of focusing on custom Design-Build remodeling and renovation, we’re excited to bring back our roots with the launch of our brand new Small Jobs Division (SJD), a new branch of Model Remodel dedicated to tackling smaller home improvement projects with the care and craftsmanship that we put into every project.
For 22 years we’ve remodeled kitchens, redesigned bathrooms, renovated basements, built additions upwards and outward, and so much more. Model Remodel has expanded its team, tools, and capabilities, and for many years now, we’ve focused on Design-Build: a remodeling process that utilizes custom interior and architectural design to create the perfect custom remodel or renovation for our clients. Now, the SJD will allow us to use our expansive toolbox of building knowledge to help with projects that were previously too small for us to take on, such as water damage repair, or adding aging-in-place accommodations.
What Kind of Remodeling is a Small Job?
From the Front Door to the Back Deck and Everything in Between
Think of the SJD as your go-to solution for home remodeling projects that might not need a full-scale remodel, but still deserve the utmost care. Whether you’re planning a half-bath refresh, sprucing up a small kitchen, or adding grab bars for aging-in-place accommodations, we’ve got you covered.
We’ll also take care of the less glamorous (but totally necessary) tasks, like water damage repairs or fixture installations. Need to repair a creaky and damaged old deck? Looking for a way to make your small bedroom more livable? Most homeowners have a few of these small projects stacked up; and the Small Jobs Division is your hassle-free answer.
Some things in your home simply need to be updated after a certain amount of time. Installing new lighting fixtures, replacing faucets and spouts, or retiling a crumbling backsplash – when certain parts of the home start to age, it might be time to call the SJD for a look.
Does your attic need attention? Does your Kitchen cause concern? Small home improvements don’t have to be sketchy; the Small Jobs Division brings professional attention to those wish-list remodeling projects.
The best part? We handle these smaller projects with the same precision and professionalism that you’ve come to expect from Model Remodel’s larger Design-Build projects. That means on-time scheduling, transparent budgeting, and top-notch craftsmanship every step of the way.
How the Small Jobs Division Works
Our Process is Quick and Stress-Free
When you partner with the SJD, you’ll work with a dedicated team led by our Small Jobs Division Manager. You’ll also benefit from all the resources that Model Remodel has to offer, including our in-house permitting team, designers, and the best subcontractors in Seattle. While most of our small jobs will require minimal or no design and permitting services, our team is fully equipped to bring those resources into your project if needed.
After a meet and greet and a ballpark estimate, we can move quickly into putting together a preliminary contract that encompasses all the work your home needs. When the final contract is signed, and 50% deposit collected, we’ll schedule a pre-construction meeting to iron out the fine details. Before you know it, we’ll be setting up site protection and getting started on construction. All along the way, our Small Jobs Division team is just a phone call or email away for any questions or concerns.
From the first consultation to the final walkthrough, we’ll ensure your project is completed on time, within budget, and with the award-winning craftsmanship that’s become synonymous with the Model Remodel name.
Small Jobs Specialties
From Pull-and-Put to Water Damage Repair
A pull-and-put is a category of remodeling job that focus on replacing one feature of a space at a time, like a sink, tub, or lighting fixture. Like the name suggests, this process involves removing an existing feature and installing a replacement or upgrade in its place. This process can sometimes be referred to as a shower swap, or a tub swap, which is where those features are replaced in a quick and minimally-invasive manner. A remodel stops being a pull-and-put when accompanying work becomes more involved, like heavy plumbing or electrical work, layout changes, or replacing flooring.
Another Small Jobs Division specialty is water damage repair. Here in Seattle and the surrounding areas, water is ever-present. Many homes around here were built over 100 years ago, and even some of the younger homes have become susceptible to water damage. Sometimes it’s obvious, like a rotting deck, or stains in the ceiling – but some water damage can be hidden. Our expert team can help you find and fix any water damage with speed and precision.
As mentioned before, the SJD has a wide variety of services to offer. We can refresh your kitchen, update your bathroom, replace tile flooring or backsplash, renovate bedrooms, add crucial accessibility upgrades for aging-in place, and much more.
From start to finish, the Small Jobs Division brings quality craftsmanship and customer service to your home improvement project.

Small Jobs Division FAQs
Does a small job include custom design services?
Small remodeling jobs do not typically include custom designs, layouts, and drawings. Larger projects that require those services are usually considered design-build projects. There is some overlap between design-build and small jobs, and we’re happy to discuss where your particular project might fit in.
Do small jobs require a permit?
Most of our small jobs require minimal permitting, or no permits at all. Permitting is an intricate topic, and Model Remodel has an in-house permitting team to help answer any questions.
Is a small job confined to one room/space?
Small remodeling projects are usually confined to one space, but may include a wider area of work, such as replacing all the trim or doors in a home. We are very flexible with scope of work and we’re always open to hearing your ideas for your home.
Are small jobs limited by time or budget?
If your remodeling project is limited by time and budget, we can work with you to find the best plan of action for your situation. This is one of the reasons we created the Small Jobs Division, and our expert team is very experienced in home remodeling on a tight schedule.
What are some examples of small remodeling projects?
Small jobs come in all shapes and sizes. Our most common project type is a bathroom refresh, whether that’s a half bath update, a tile replacement, or a new shower door. If a kitchen update is in order, you might consider new lighting fixtures, or a tile backsplash. Outdoor living can easily fit into the small job category with deck repair, outdoor lighting, or water damage repair. If you need ideas or have additional questions, just fill out the form at the bottom of this page and our team will get back to you quickly.
